EPIDEMIC OF BRONCHIOLITIS

Since last 20 days we r witnessing an epidemic of bronchiolitis.children between the ages of 1 moth to 2 yrs are being affected.it is taking almost 10 days to recover.

 

KAWASAKI DISEASE MANAGED SUCCESSFULLY AT MUSKAAN CHILDREN HOSPITAL

A 4 yr old girl came with h/o fever since 5 days,rash since 2 days.she developed gradually signs s/o kawasaki like,congesion of eyes,cracked lips,cervical lymphadenopathy etc.she was diagnosed as kawasaki disease and given IVIG.she responded dramatically.all her symptoms(80%) were gone in 24 hrs.Details of the history and investigations can be provided on request.

A CME was conducted by muskaan children hospital on 27 th april in hotel atithi.It was attended by many eminent consultants and general practitioners.two topics were covered 1-rational use of antibiotics by DR S M RASHEED'2-INTERESTING CASE DISCUSSION BY DR ABDUL WAHEED KHAN.

rickettial fever on rise

of late we are seeing more and more children with rickettial fever,these pts; are responding very well to doxycycline.early diagnosis and treatment is very imp; for fast recovery without complications.

A rare pt; with chylous ascites diagnosed

a 4 yr old male child presented with distention of abdomen since 1 month,on investigations it turned out to be chylous ascites,he is started with AKT,low fat high protein diet and mct.the details of the investigations and management can be shared on request.

NEC with perforation managed conservatively.

A preterm vlbw newborn with NEC with perforation peritonitis was managed successfully at MCH(muskan children hospital).this new born was referred from jalna.her weight was 1.3 kg.she was discharged home on 15 th day.she went home on full breast feeds(direct +ebm).her wt; on discharge was .5 kg.
